Hey Everyone!! Hope your summer has been great! Its the last few weeks before we go back to work so lets stop and smell the roses! I have been very busy this summer and UBC-TV is taking off. We have launched our streaming channels and we now have shows on our site for your enjoyment. We are on our way to our next distribution levels which will include OTT and cable. We have a wonderful show thats the next new American Idol thats called STARS UNLEASHED.  I am excited to say that I am on the cover of Bronze Magazine! UBC-TV has been getting more national attention these days and its only the beginning.

Why We Should Give Thanks!

This is the time of year where things slow down a bit and it gives us the opportunity to reflect upon all of the fortunate things that have happened this year and to also think upon the things that are not so fortunate. The unfortunate things are the ones that actually make us who we are today. It’s  like fire that molds iron. The hot flames melt it down and once the ore has cooled it is not the same as it was before when the fire melted it. It sounds like a cliche’ but the things that sound cliches’ are the ones that have been passed down from the beginning of time and are based in truth.

I am a witness to this personally. The things that have challenged me the most have made me sharper, stronger, wiser and more grounded than all of my success. It makes success feel even better! I look at things differently and with deeper eyes.  So if you are not where you want to be, no worries! The Universe always gives us the opportunity to start all over.  So never give up on your dreams and goals.

Thanksgiving is about eating good food but lets not forget about how blessed we are and lets give thanks for all of the wonderful things and people that God has blessed us with. We may not be where we want to be but we are where God needs us to be in order to be the best that we can be for our families, our country and ourselves.

My Thoughts On The TV Industry and Why UBC-TV Has To Be Different

Hey All, well it is time for me to begin to reveal our upcoming cable line-up for our UBC Original Programs. I am going to start with the programs that are created and produced by UBC. We are also going into some great co-production alliances and have some outside content coming to us. Our first goal is to get the UBC Originals out first and then go to the next phase which will include co-productions and outside productions.

Needless to say this is a task where you have to have Hercules on your team!! Its extremely difficult to launch any new media business today.  Technology has made it easier to shoot content that is broadcast quality but the cost are still there if you are in fact entering into an arena with other major companies who have established footprints.

This is where you have to plan your work and work  your plan so to speak. I have always said to my team that we will do this in a way that will give us a voice that is different than others by producing original programming versus just being like everyone else with the same programs but different channels.  I actually think television has gotten worse over the years. There are those shows that stand out with great writing, cast, production, etc. but they are becoming far and few between.  Lets not even discuss the lack of people of color in the industry STILL. One or two hits shows with African Americans do not even the playing field. There is a major void of our ‘Stories’ that are not being told. This is where the behind the scenes in the industry count the most. The deals that are being made are being made with people in authority who either do not understand culture, too young to know better or just don’t care. This is where some major change is needed.

Companies like Youtube, Amazon, Netflix and others are doing well. They are giving viewers something that is relevant and cutting edge. They have become the alternative to the regular broadcast wheel.  I see that trend growing even more and my company UBC is in the midst of it all.  My vision has always been multi-platform from years ago.  I have also said that original content is the way to go but as you know it takes a lot of work to do this and you really have to have a really good production plan. I feel now is the time for UBC-TV.  UBC has become more than TV.  I have been able to create some very exciting alliances and partnerships that will be very surprising to everyone.   Over the next few days, weeks and months we will begin to do our program reveal along with our distribution footprint information and some other very exciting ventures we are undertaking.

When I begin this journey I just wanted to launch a cable network; now it has turned into a multi-media company with different divisions that will be rolled out at different time frames.  All I can say is hold on to your hats!

One of the first shows to debut is called ‘UBC JAMS!’. I created this show with the intent of showcasing up and coming artists in multiple genres of music. The show will be live streamed and then shown on our cable channel.  Dates, times for the show will be announced soon. Its evolving every other day as we move forward in adding new content. UBC JOINS FORCES WITH INTERNATIONAL MARKETING GROUP, SBA AND CSS NEVADA TO GIVE FUNDING TO SMALL BUSINESSES!

Hello everyone! We are on the move. If anyone knows anything about me, they know I love small business. I grew up in a family where my mom and dad were both entrepreneurs and we had 2 business running at the same time. That’s probably why I love to run multiple ventures at the same time; it’s in my DNA.

One of the goals of UBC-TV is to uplift, educate and empower. I feel that you can entertain as well as give something to your viewers, listeners and subscribers that will assist them in exploring dreams and putting them into a format that can actually make them real and profitable.

This is why I am launching the UBC Small Business platform. This platform will include a television component and an online component. I have made a move forward with that by forming partnerships with International Marketing Group and CSS Nevada.

International Marketing Group has certified us to do small business loans, SBA loans, business financing, business planning, marketing plans, accounting plans and many other services that any small business, home based business and entrepreneur needs in order to make your business a success.

I am so excited about this. I am also planning on having a television component for small business where all can learn about the ‘How To’ of starting, managing, running and funding a business.

CSS Nevada is another one of our partners. Every idea and/or business has to have a operating structure, asset protection and many other things related to formation. CSS Nevada does corporate support services  in all 50 STATES in the US of A.   This is one of the major foundations of any business or venture that you need in order to create success and to protect your assets and yourself from lawsuits and other situations that could effect all of the hard work you have put into your company, business or venture.

I wanted to start with the building blocks of UBC Small Business and go from there with adding additional partners as we do the roll out.

UBC-TV CEO Peggy Dodson To Receive Honor From American Heart Association

Hey Everyone,

I am a bit shy about awards and such but I just wanted to toot this one! I have the  honor of receiving an award from the American Heart Association for my work in the community and in broadcasting. I seldom think about anything like this; I am just a hard working Sista on a mission to make positive change!! But I am humbled and honored. Community Leaders Honored 1st Annual Red Affair Fundraiser for AHA

NEW YORK, NY– Sue Entertainment in conjunction with “Ladies Doing Big Things” host the First Annual Red Affair Fundraiser for the American Heart Association, honoring women with passionate hearts. Hosted by famed actor and personality, Amelia Moore, proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association (AHA).

The AHA is the nation’s oldest, largest voluntary organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The organization has more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters working tirelessly to eliminate these diseases. They fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies and provide lifesaving tools and information to save and improve lives.

Distinguished guests will be honored at this affair to highlight their passion and great works in their communities.  The highly regarded, Peggy Dodson, CEO of The Urban Broadcasting Company (UBC-TV) will be recognized for years of dedication to upholding the arts, culture, communications and media in the African American community.

The community Icon, Suzanne Cepeda, CEO of Sue Entertainment and Promotion firm will be acknowledged for her sixteen-year contribution to the music industry and continuing her family’s fifty-five year legacy of fundraising, community outreach and her advocacy for AHA and Cancer Society.

The esteemed, Latin-soul singer, Selina Marchena (Sol la Salsera) will be celebrated for her contribution to the music industry, positive influence and support of the Latina community.

There will be a special presentation will be made to the AHA for their fight against this disease, as well as a guest appearance and performance by Pharell Williams’ protégé, new pop sensation, Maxine Ashley.

The event will be held Thursday, March 13^th, 2014 at Tammany Hall, 152 Orchard Street, New York, New York.  Tickets are on sale now at $30 per person. Group options are available.
