Social Media Week Comes To New York City

Well, things are about to get cooking people. 2011 looks like a great year! We made it through 2010, that was a great feat!! It was a rollercoaster ride. I have the feeling there will be some really great opportunities this year but you have to be at the top of your game! I have lots to talk about in the coming weeks so stay tuned to this Bat Station!!. February is going to be a hot one, even if it’s too cold and snowy outside.

Social Media Week is coming to town from February 7-11, here in New York City. It is a global platform that connects and discuss everything around the emerging trends in social and mobile media. It actually happens in several cities across the U.S. and Internationally at the same time.’

I got involved with it last year and was fortunate to meet the creator, Toby Daniels-a visionary. He sees the many applications that social media is evolving into and makes it accessible for us to be involved in the conversation of that evolution. That is the important part for me, to give people access and to participate in the evolution of this form of communication that is expanding rapidly. To many times only large companies are the ones who dictate what and how things go. With social media, it is about The People. The companies who get that are the ones that will be around in the future, the ones who don’t- well you know.

I know the registration is open, it closes fast so get going and see what you can get into. A lot of the events are FREE!!  They are hosted by some of the major names like Google, Nokia, PepsiCo, Meebo and more!  Lots of opportunities heating up in the mobile media industry. It’s a good week to check things out if you are planning your social media platform for your business. You get the opportunity to listen to the experts and see how you can carve out a place in this fast-moving industry for your company or organization.

  1. I totally missed Social Media Week because of Fashion Week and a few other appointments. I will definitely have to check it out next year.
